There are three kinds of patents, inventions, utility models and designs.
Protection technology program - an invention or utility model
Application range:
Inventions: the product or improved methods for the proposed technical solutions (products, methods, processes)
Utility model: the shape of the product is limited to the constitution or the new technical solution proposed by a combination of (product)
Utility model requires less than creative invention
The term of protection: 20 years inventions, utility models 10 years. (Both from the filing date)
Approval Process: Practical new approval process than simple invention (invention have substantive examination, utility model does not), so stable power to the invention, utility model registration system similar. About 2 years mandate invention, utility model eight months or so.
Protection of Product Design - Designs
Designs: refers to the product's shape, pattern, or a combination of beauty and a rich combination of colors and shapes, patterns and made fit for industrial applications.
